The Dream Catcher: Ch-1 The Frankstons

Ch-1

The Frankstons

I was just a girl of eleven when all this happened. My grandmother whom I loved a lot, passed away when I was young. I lived with my parents and beloved grandfather. My father owned a big hotel in the city of Mecenia, USA, where we lived and my mother was a housewife but she helped my father in managing the small jobs of the hotel.

Our hotel was quite big and its name was Hotel Star Inn. It had all facilities from spa to perfect suites and from tasty food to lovely gardens and clean and big swimming pools. Our staff was also very loyal and hardworking. We had nearly six thousand rooms and five hundred customers per day. Our hotel was the biggest, most beautiful, affordable and the best one in the city and nearby cities. I too loved to go in the hotel. I mostly used to go there with grandpa and on weekends because I had no school on weekends.

 FRANKSTONS

Before grandma's death, grandpa used to remain happy always but after she died he started remaining quiet all the time. Grandpa always remembered grandma and he also used to cry secretly sometimes in his room. I felt very sad when I saw grandpa crying. He pretended in front of all of us that he is happy but in reality most of the times he was sad only.

My parents used to fulfil all my wishes. We had a big bungalow amid the hustle and bustle of the city. There was a garden near our house named Heart Garden which was in a shape of a heart and grandpa loved that garden. Everyday, I used to go with grandpa in the garden and he used to tell me a story daily. For me the favourite stories told by him were The Arabian Nights and Alice in Wonderland. We were living a peaceful life with all the needs of life fulfilled.

My grandfather was a man with a good heart. He was very honest and trustworthy. He always used to tell me moral stories, play with me and help me in my studies too. He also used to tell me about religious things. He had a very beautiful dream catcher. I had a great liking for it. The dream catcher had shiny white and golden pearls with colourful feathers and attractive threads. Its hoop had lovely colours like chartreuse and azure blue and the design of its web was very pretty with peach and taffy colour of pink. However, grandpa used to keep it in the farthest corner of his room and never allowed anyone to touch it or come near it.

He had never scolded me even when I broke his favourite vase. He also used to save me from mama's and papa's scolding. He had only scolded me once when I had tried to touch the dream catcher. I always wondered what is the reason why grandpa doesn't allow anyone to touch the dream catcher nor he allows anyone to go near it. Whenever I asked grandpa why he doesn't allow anyone to touch the dream catcher he always replied, "I will tell you some other day, Kimmie." It looked like a normal dream catcher. No one knew the reason why grandpa behaved like this.

To be continued...
